Slash commands are keyboard shortcuts for performing common tasks in Teams. Use them to quickly access apps, manage conversations, update your status, add details to your messages, and join or leave meetings.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Note: Slash commands are currently unavailable in Teams for mobile.

Use slash commands

To use slash commands:

  • Type / in the search box at the top of Teams. Select a command from the list and press Enter.

  • Type / in a chat compose box. Select a command from the list and press Enter or Tab.

The following table shows available commands, what they do, and where you can use them.

Commands for installed apps

  • Your recent commands will stay at the top of your menu. To explore other commands, type / in the search or compose boxes.

  • Commands are available to everyone using Teams. However, you might see additional commands depending on where you use them.

  • Some commands may be unavailable due to policies set by your org.

Use /goto command

The /goto command helps you navigate chats or channels from the search bar or as a keyboard shortcut.

From the search bar 

  1. Click the search bar at the top of Teams.

  2. Type /goto followed by the name of the chat or channel you want to access. Or you can select one of the options from the drop-down menu that appears.

  3. Press Enter to jump directly to your destination.

Use the keyboard shortcut 

  1. Press Ctrl+G to activate “Go to” mode.

  2. Start typing the name of your chat or channel. Or you can select one of the options from the drop-down menu that appears.

  3. Select your destination from the suggestions and press Enter.
